Our Mission
Gator Autonomous Racing seeks to design, build, and race high-performance autonomous vehicles, providing University of Florida students with innovative, hands-on experience in robotics, artificial intelligence, controls, and embedded systems engineering. Through national and international competitions, research-driven development, and community outreach, Gator Autonomous Racing aims to advance the field of autonomous mobility while developing future engineers and leaders in engineering and technology.
Interest Groups
Software
Develops the vehicle's core autonomy systems, including perception, localization, planning, and control, using ROS and real-time programming
AI
Builds machine learning models for vision and decision-making, enabling the car to detect, interpret, and react to its surroundings
Electrical
Designs and integrates the car's electrical systems—power, sensors, and embedded hardware—for reliable and efficient operation
Mechanical
Constructs and maintains the physical vehicle, optimizing chassis, suspension, and mounting systems for performance and durability
